The word Gospel simply means “Good News”. At the heart of the Christian faith is the announcement that God has acted through Jesus – His life, death and resurrection – to bring salvation to all who believe. This message is central to who we are at EMBC and shapes everything we do.

The Biblical Foundation

The gospel is woven throughout the whole of Scripture, from the promises of the Old Testament to their fulfilment in Jesus Christ in the New Testament. The heart of the Gospel teachings include:

Our Need

The Bible teaches that all people have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. Sin separates us from God and leaves us unable to restore the relationship on our own.

Jesus

Jesus was fully God and fully human. He entered our world, lived a sinless life, and revealed God’s love and truth. He is at the centre of the gospel message.

His Sacrifice

Through His death on the cross, Jesus took upon Himself the consequences of our sin. This act of love opens the way for forgiveness and reconciliation with God.

His Resurrection

Jesus rose from the dead, demonstrating His victory over sin and death. Without the resurrection, Christian faith would have no foundation.

The Gift of Salvation

Salvation is offered freely by God’s grace. It is not something we earn, but something we receive through faith

Our Response

Jesus calls us to turn from our old ways, believe the good news and to profess our faith through baptism. Through faith, we begin a new life with God.

Sharing the Gospel

As a church, we believe the gospel is meant to be shared - with clarity, compassion, and confidence. Understanding the gospel helps us understand who God is, who we are, and what Jesus has done for us. It shapes our worship, our community life, and our mission as a church. Most importantly, it offers real, lasting hope to every person.

Scripture encourages us to speak plainly, rely on God’s Word, and trust the Holy Spirit to work in people’s hearts. We aim to:

  • Explain the message simply
  • Connect it meaningfully to people’s lives
  • Share our own stories of God’s transforming grace
  • Pray for the Spirit’s guidance and power

The gospel is not just information - it is an invitation to A New Way of Living.
